Paul McConnell on the streets of San Francisco

I will never forget the September day I was hiking the Dipsea Trail in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area north of San Francisco, and realized that I wanted to make San Francisco my home. I decided to move from my house in Maryland to San Francisco and help the company I was working for open a West Coast office. I knew San Francisco had it all - culture, beauty, opportunity, fun, diversity - and was set among natural wonders and the technology capital of the world. San Francisco offered me both business opportunities and personal joy and growth. Since I have been here, I have immersed myself in the city and what it has to offer - plus offering some of myself to San Francisco.

I was born in North East Washington DC in 1964; into the only white family on our street. The sixties in Washington were a time of protests against Vietnam and racism, and a time of experimenting for the younger culture. It was a time of change for cultural attitudes and the perception of government. All of these formed major memories in my young mind. More...
