Outside
of the workplace, I love the outdoors, whether it's Yosemite, or the coast,
or a park in the city. I am one of the many who often rides their bike in
the city as a form of transportation. I also enjoy the many restaurants
and coffee shops in San Francisco, never shy to engage in conversation.
When I get the chance, I enjoy world travel, throughout the United States,
Europe, the Middle East, and other parts of the world. I also believe in
public service, and I have served as a volunteer and am participating in
a number of initiatives and projects in the city.
But although I love San Francisco, as I look at the city now, I see many inconsistencies with my personal values. I see an alarming collapse of our infrastructure, both physical infrastructure and services for citizens. I see significant financial resources being used with not enough value to our community. I see a growing divide between rich and poor, and homelessness. I see a variety of cultures, but the cultures not coming together as a community. I see too many regressive policies and not enough progressive policies. I see funding of institutionalized programs that offer old solutions to new problems. And I see corruption and machine politics, which serve the few and rich rather than the people. I do not see enough leadership; I do not see the bar being raised; and I do not see community. More... |
