The Case Against the Incumbent

In Washington DC, the Representative must serve as a national leader and legislate for both the nation and San Francisco. In San Francisco, the Representative must serve as a leader in the District, solicit regular and proactive feedback from the constituency, and be accountable for how Federal resources, primarily Federal funding, are used. The Representative must always keep in mind that San Francisco is their number one priority.

In contrast, our current Representative is:

  • Political Action Committee (PAC) Focused. The incumbent is driven by special interest donations. She raised millions for her PAC, donated over a million to other Party incumbents before the whip election, but introduced less than ten pieces of legislation last year.
  • Unaccountable and inaccessible. Why is the FBI in San Francisco investigating the misuse of Federal funds? Why did we let four town hall meetings per year turn into one?
  • Fundraiser not legislator. Party fundraising is a time-consuming job. What do you think San Francisco’s representative should be focused on? Party and special interest? Or public interest?
